Friday, April 1st

10 a.m. Young People’s Concert: Digging Downbeats, comical and educational musical field trip program for school childrenWolfgang Amadeus Schmutzinberry is about to perform his latest masterpiece when his ensemble complains that he has not included a meter or bar lines. He does not know what meter is or why it is important in music. The ensemble takes him through the concert repertoire explaining as they go. His own piece slowly takes shape as he learns about accents, dance forms, duple/triple time and reviews the concepts of tempo, pulse, and rhythm.    Featuring Rami Vamos and Natalie Monterastelli and the ILYA trio.

 

7 p.m. Chamber Music Performance: Fooled by TangoFeaturing wonderful tango and tango inspired works performed and arranged by pianist Michael Tilley. He will be joined by Stefan Milenkovic, Dmitri Kouzov and Yvonne Redman for an evening sure to entertain; bring your dancing shoes in case you are inspired by the music to move!  Open to people of all ages.


Saturday, April 2nd

7 p.m. Chamber Music Performance: Reflections - The Jupiter String Quartet, violinists Nelson Lee and Megan Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel and cellist Daniel McDonough,  will perform masterpieces of Beethoven and Dutilleux.  These great pieces will be followed by the powerful Shostakovich Piano Trio performed by Stefan Milenkovich, violin, Dmitry Kouzov, cello and Julia Kouzova, piano.  Open to people of all ages.       


Sunday, April 3rd

5 p.m. Chamber Music Performance: A Sunday well spent - Join DoCha guest artist Nathan Gunn and friends as we present a celebration of classic musical theatre works by Cole Porter including So In Love, Wunderbar and more with a special sneak-peek of scenes from Lyric Theatre @ Illinois' upcoming production of Kiss Me, Kate!  .   Open to people of all ages. 


All events are free!  No tickets are required.  Enjoy world-class music in a casual environment. We invite the entire community to join us April 1-3, 2016

All events will take place at the Orpheum Theater, 

Orpheum Children's Science Museum, 346 North Neil, Champaign, IL 61820.

Food and beverages will be sold at the 7 p.m. and 5 p.m. events and we encourage you to sit back and enjoy your food and drink at one of the many tables in the theater while experiencing great live music. Savory as well as sweet light snacks from Pekara Bakery and wine and non-alcoholic beverages from Art Mart will be available for purchase at the theater. *

*Outside alcoholic beverages (BYOB) not permitted.  Doors open 30 minutes prior to event start time.
